History of Corn III
The silk that has emerged from the Teosinte seeds of this plant help facilitate fertilization. The silk represents the ovaries of the plant. Each strand of silk is tied to a kernel of corn and the pollen of a given plant rarely fertilizes the silks of the same plant. Corn silk was also used as medicine.
